Annual online application for the Silver Fern JS visa 2013 was filled yesterday on Monday 29th in just a few minutes. As always.
My congratulations to everybody who were lucky and got their places. Those, who didn't make it though the payment, don't be sad, it was a pure luck in the end.
I hope you don't give up and find a better way to make your dream come true.
As a matter of fact, it was very annoying to hear that they didn't fix the web site this year AGAIN, and people had to struggle through ridiculous number of errors and misunderstandings. And this was the government site, you know.
I would like to ask people who read this blog and made it through the payment yesterday to share their experience for the sake of next year applications. Could you, please, leave a comment answering the following:
1. Your country of residence.
2. What kind of bank card you used for the payment, credit/debit.
3. What time your payment went through. You can see it in your net bank, for example. It's a very important information to see how fast places were taken this year.
4. What browser you used.
5. Your occupation/diploma name.
Also any relevant information, comments on this year's application are very welcome.
Thank you very much in advance,
Lena
Hi
ReplyDeleteI Try it at the first seconds after 10 AM but I can not reach the payment page
I just got an error about work and holiday quota
It was awful and very sad for me that the government had not repaired the system during the year
I saw a forum in the britishexpats.com that try to sumerize people that want to send Email to the responsible persons of the site to find some solution about that
I think the current process is unfair and the site errors is really horrible.
Hi Bab,
DeleteI know it's been a long time. That's true the system is not exactly fair, it's more of a lottery. Are you going to apply again in April 2014?
Hi Elena,
ReplyDeleteI have successfully submitted my silver fern application around 10:08 or 10:09 AM :-) I have opened application in 3 different browsers (FF, Chrome and Safari) ready to submit. I got my position through Chrome. Following are the answers for everybody reference.

Hello Piyush,
DeleteThank you very much for your answer, it will definitely help new people in 2014. I plan to put all shared ideas in one post. How has you life been since April? My guess is you are about to move to NZ, aren't you? Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about life in Auckland or need help on arrival!
Hi Lena!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thanks so much for being active in answering queries here in your blog. It has helped lots of people looking into the SF application.
We also secured places! Yey! After two of us received the emails we were still a bit unsure as we might receive another email stating that there was a mistake (like last year's problem)..but thankfully there is none! :D
1. Your country of residence - Philippines
2. What kind of bank card you used for the payment, credit/debit - VISA online Debit. We tried using it for international online transactions to make sure it would work.

Please let me know when you plan to be in NZ, would be really cool to organize some kind of meet up :)
Hi Elena!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Thank you for this wonderful blog and I have to say more than any other blogs (since I ave been following expat ones) this one has been the most exhaustive about Silver fern thanks to all the comments of the active users.
We did get place in this year's quota. Though it accepted initially after I pressed Submit button the payment page wouldn't open. I tried opening the payment gateway page in different explorers but only error messages turned up. But Finally I right clicked and opened new window in Chrome itself and it opened . From the time I submitted and it went to payment gateway it took about approximately 10 minutes believe it or not!
Then finally it went through:)
1. Your country of residence -India
2. What kind of bank card you used for the payment, credit/debit -Visa Credit Card
3. What time your payment went through. You can see it in your net bank, for example. It's a very important information to see how fast places were taken this year - About 10:17 or so
4. What browser you used - Chrome
5. Your occupation/diploma name- Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDM is equivalent to MBA here)
Also applied for NZQA now for skills assessment to proceed further .
I was also wondering any help could be offered to look for jobs from now on since it would be better to look form now on so that by the time you land you could line up some interviews isn't it??
Why have you chosen Auckland and not any other place in NZ ?Though I understand it is the most developed in NZ but anyway would like to know your reason.
Many Thanks
Jyothi
Hi Jyothi,
DeleteThank you very much for your informative post and all the kind words :) It's a shame i haven't been active for so long.
If you get a chance, please let me know more about yourself (such is what job you are looking for) and when you are planing to come to NZ.
As for Auckland, it was easy: better climate and more work places. i haven't regretted it a day!
I was lucky to be selected on SFV this year.
ReplyDeleteCountry: Kuwait

Bank Card: Pre-paid Master Card.
Time of Payment: I am not sure, but I think about 10:09.

I am difinitly sure that not all 300 people will be accepted.
What a good man with evil thoughts...!!!
DeleteHaha :)
DeleteThank you very much for the information! Not sure if we can find out even now how many ppl were accepted/rejected.

Hey,
ReplyDeleteI have selected this year. And I have a question regarding the required documents which I have to send the VISA office. There is a section as follows,
"(__) evidence that you hold, or you can obtain, New Zealand registration if your qualification is relevant to an occupation that requires registration by law in New Zealand."
Do you have any idea of what this means??
Thanks and Regards,
Anjana
@Anjanaj, It will be applicable only when your occupation is in this list - http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/LinkAdministration/ToolboxLinks/occupationalregistration.htm
Deleteif it's not there, then you don't need to register anything.
Thanks Piyush.. I am a software engineer and it's not in the list. So I am safe i guess.. :P

DeleteHi Elena, Thank you so much for your help and sharing all the useful information. My silver fern visa application has been approved on 12 July and I am coming to auckland in october month. ReplyDeletewww.mytechtricks.com/2013/07/apply-for-nzqa-iqa-skill-assessment.html
I will share more information in my upcoming posts, would like to see your feedback on the post.
Hi again))
DeleteUnfortunately, I can't open your blog for some reason. is it up? I think the more blogs about NZ immigration the better!
Hi Elena,
ReplyDeleteWell thanks much for the great blog... Even I want to make it to NZ through the Silver Fern Job Visa 2014, but when I check it online on the official website page for silver fern online application "http://www.immigration.govt.nz/SilverFern" , I could see a message which says "The quota for this year has already been filled" which is really disappointing to read. Could you confirm if the Silver Fern Visa Applications quota for 2014 is over or the message is not an updated one.
If the quota is still not over or the applying date has yet not been opened, do you have any ideas on which date Immigration NZ will open the portal for submission of Silver Fern Job Visa for 2014. Your prompt response would be highly appreciable and thankful.
Best Regards,
Nitin Bali
Hi Elena
ReplyDeleteAm waiting for your response.
