Silver Fern Visa

According to my research, New Zealand is one of the countries with the easiest immigration system, meaning that it's rather possible to find YOUR way to move there.
Basically, there are the following options:

1.  If you are coming from a visa-waiver country, for example Finland, you can stay in NZ without a visa for 3 months or more.
http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/VisaFreeCountries.htm
2. Visitor visa
3. Student visa
4. Investor visa
5. Entrepreneur visa
6. Work visa

"Work visa" is probably the most general term from all above. There's a list of visa categories that belong to "work visa". I'm not well familiar with most of them yet, since my way to receive NZ work visa was a program one of a kind, Silver Fern.

Silver Fern is a visa for young recently graduate professionals who don't have a big working experience yet but would like to search for a job in NZ live, being present in the country. Shall I mention that it's a lot easier to find a job when you can talk to an employer in person and show your skills.

The visa is given to you for 9 months since the day you enter NZ, half a year is given to activate it. For example, if your visa is issued on August 4th, you must enter NZ anytime before February 4th, and after that you can stay in the country for 9 months. Silver Fern Job Search Visa is the normal work visa and you can do what ever job you like (or get), however, in order to extend it to the next level, Silver Fern Practical Experience Visa, you need to find a skilled work according to your education within these 9 months.
Initial Silver Fern Practical Experience visa is granted for the duration of the job offer. If your offer of employment is extended, or you find skilled employment with a new employer, you can apply for the remainder of the 24 months. However, simple as it is, once you got a job offer in NZ, you can always apply for a visa under the Skilled Migrant category and receive a residence permit, which is another story.
Silver Fern Job search visa costs 135 NZD.

Requirements:
1. be aged between 20 and 35 years of age (inclusive)
2. be outside New Zealand during the application process
3. hold a recognized bachelors degree, higher qualification, or a recognized trade qualification with a minimum of two years of work experience in that trade
4. meet the English language requirements set out for principal applicants under the Skilled Migrant Category (IELTS level 6.5)
5. have a minimum of NZ$4,200 available funds to meet your living costs while you are here
6. not have been previously granted a Silver Fern Job Search visa.

But most of all, you simply must be lucky enough to get a place in the annual quota (300 places) through the online system.
The quota usually opens in the end of April at 10 a.m. NZ time, however, this year there was a problem with the web site and it opened a week later. You can check the exact day and time here:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/SilverFern/

It's highly recommended to feel in the application before the day when the quota is open. Even though the application is easy and has simple questions, you will win a lot of time by filling and saving it before hand. Believe me, every second counts!
In order to be able to fill in the application, you need to register at the web site first:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
Make sure you remember your password well, because after 3 attempts, if you fill it wrongly, the system will block your profile for a day.

Once you are logged in your cabinet and filled in the application, you will see on the right of the screen "My application" "?". If you click on "my application", you will be able to edit it, and this is the place from where you submit it once the quota is open.
Your application is considered to be received (meaning you got your place) after the payment has been made. The payment page opens after you press submit button when the application is ready on the day X in April. Again, Silver Fern fee is 135 NZD.
Since Silver Fern is an online application, you have to pay for it online ONLY. After the payment page opens you have to chose your card type, fill in the details and press pay button. If the system tells you that the payment went successfully, congratulations, you got your place!
Note: if you don't get the place, you don't pay the fee.

Well, Silver Fern is truly one of the easiest and cheapest ways to get a chance to find a job in NZ, not a surprise, the competition is huge, it's a lottery indeed! In 2012 all places were taken in 8 minutes!

To maximize your chances, I would recommend to fill in the application before and to make sure you have the right type of a bank card (debit Visa and Mastercard) and enough money on it. Another way to help yourself, is to open more than one Internet browser. From last year experience Google Chrome worked the best. I had 3 browsers open: Mozila, Internet Explorer and Safari. Received my place through Safari!

If you got unlucky and didn't get a place, don't be upset, you can still receive a Silver Fern before next year: a few places appear through out the year (these are places that were called back for some reasons from previous applicants). You never know when and how many of them it's going to appear, it's a matter of luck again!

However, there's just a very tiny possibility that there will appear any more places before April 2013. This year there was a big crush on the web site and 300 extra people managed to pay for their visas, even though the quota was full already. A long story short, NZ decided to proceed all 600 applications, so there will be twice more young people with Silver Fern this year. Bad or nor - you tell me.

If everything went well, and you got your place, NZ will send you an official confirmation by e-mail the following day. In this e-mail you will find a list of all documents to be sent to the nearest branch, in London in my case (the same for Russia). You have 3 months to collect and send all the papers, if you fail so, your place is lost and the money is not returned back.

You can read in detail about the program here: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/silverfern/

Please, see the next post for detailed information about documents that need to be send to the NZ branch.

    1. Hi there! Sorry for the late reply, was busy with moving arrangements. Now gonna continue the blog!
You are right, big competition makes it hard to get a place, however, many people make the same mistakes: don't fill in their application before hand, have problems with bank cards, etc. if you prepare well before hand, you maximize your chances by far.
The year when I applied we stayed in touch with guys from one forum. Everybody was very prepared and, believe it or not, everybody got a place. There were around 10-15 people from this forum who applied.
Best of luck to you too!

  2. Hey Elena,

    How are you?

You blog is perfectly simple blended correctly with information, tips and tricks for success. I do have some questions incase you have time. I understand you are moving your place and must be busy. So when you get time please do answer these :

    1. The IELTS exam can be given after I get my place at the silver fern visa?
    2. Is The application gets visible one day before the date only?
    3. Also I plan to move into wellington, is it good for hospitality jobs? I m into a luxury concierge concept, do you suggest my skills can get a starting job?

Thanks again for all the help. Say my hi to Chiquita. She is real cute.

Wish you a pleasant day ahead!

    1. Hi Nikhil!

Thank you very much. I really hope my experience helps as many people as possible, as I didn't find many blogs on the topic in English.

      Regarding your questions:

      1. You are correct. Even though it asks in the application if you have test results on hands, you can pass the test after your application was successfully submitted. That's what all of us basically did :)
Just make sure there are free test days in your region. You should leave sufficient time for the test center to grade the test as it's sent to UK. I recall it took about two weeks in Finland.

      2. You should be able to see open application already now. Though occasionally it will not open for 1-2 days before day X in April. But once you filled it in and saved, it will be there waiting for you.
I strongly recommend to fill it in beforehand, otherwise, there's very little chance you will get a quota place. Like I said, last year all places were taken in 8 minutes, given the web site was down for at least 4 minutes.

      3. Unfortunately, I'm not experienced at all in your work field and don't know much about Wellington either. However, common sense tells me that there should be a lot of jobs in hospitality in the capital City. But then again they might be mostly taken by local immigrants. Unless your kind of job needs skills proven by education, of course.

Why not Auckland, may I ask?

Hope it helps. I'm very happy to help, don't hesitate to ask if you have questions :)

p.s. Chiquita says hi back! :P

  3. Hi Elena,
Great blog! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! I will be following your advise for this year's round :) You mentioned that there is a small chance that there will be a few places throughout the year - how does that work since it's not advertised anywhere? Would I only know once I register my account?
    Thank you

    1. Hi Anja! Yes, normally there is a chance if somebody cancels his place during the year or fails to meet requirements. But I really don't think it's the case this year. I haven't heard anybody from our forum to see an empty place. They probably consider 600 ppl - already way too much.
Basically, to see and check "surprise places" you just need to log on web site and check all the time.
It's a very little chance, I'd recommend to concentrate on April.

Wish you best of luck! Where do you come from?

  4. Hi Elena!

Glad everything has gone well for you so far :)

I'm considering trying for the SFJS visa this April (2013): is it hard to find work over there once you've got the visa and everything? I mean, obviously you have a visa to search but does this even make a difference to how employers regard you? I'm not bothered what job I start with - fruit-picking, receptionist - anything: how long did it take you to get a job from when you first arrived?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah!

Nice to hear there are more and more of us. New Zealand has been absolutely marvelous so far, I'm really wondering why I haven't done the move before.

Answering your question, it all depends on your field. I've know only IT guys here so far and for them it usually takes less than a week to find a job. But I bet it's different with other jobs. I haven't started looking for a job myself but will do it shortly. Got a degree in economics and engineering, so lets see how far it will get me.

If you want to look at what kind of jobs they have generally, you should check these out:
      http://www.seek.co.nz/
      http://www.trademe.co.nz/jobs

I'm pretty sure it won't be difficult to find a job within service, especially since you are a native speaker. Just keep in mind that you should have a job offer within your field by the time 9 months expire. Otherwise, you can't extend your work visa.

A good thing about SFJS visa is that it allows you to do any job in NZ. It clearly says on your visa in the passport that you have no restrictions within 9 months. In this way, it's really easy for a company to see that you won't be a problem. Plus, you know, generally if a company in NZ wants to hire a person from abroad they need to prove that they couldn't find smb local for that job. However, Silver Fern is an exception. They do not need to undergo this process if you have SF.
My friends who found jobs here before simply put "wok visa" on their résumé and explained more clear at the interview. Worked perfect so far!

Hopefully, I will be able to share my own "searching for work" experience soon :)

      Cheers,
      Elena

  5. Its a great blog.. Thanks for sharing the practical guide for Silver Fern Visa Type..

I have a quick question buddy...

Can I just submit the application on any day and pay the fee when the day comes OR do I need to submit when the quota opens..??

    1. Thank you, Vijay, my pleasure :)
Unfortunately, you can't submit before they open the quota, but you can and you should fill in before hand. You need to register on the web site, make sure you remember you login and password for future. If you make 3 mistakes, the system will block you for 3 days!
After you successfully registered, open SF application and fill it in. Choose save.
In April, once quota is open, you quickly log in slightly before hand, open your application, click continue and refresh your page until there appears a box were you need to tick that you agree to conditions. There will be pay button at the bottom. Once you press it, you will need to fill in your card details (must be debit card), do it very quick. After that, hopefully, your payment will go through and you will be one of the new Silver Ferns 2013 :)

    8. You mean the Russian forum? They are not very active this year on the forum, I just saw about 5 people, but the number will definitely increase by April. Last year there were about 30 people, I think. All got their places.

Also, they did not reject applications last year, all 600 were considered in the end. People received their money back but after a week, immigration office has contacted them to say that their applications will be accepted as well.

I described the process of sending documents here:
      http://dont-worry-be-kiwi.blogspot.co.nz/2013/01/silver-fern-proof-of-evidence-that-you.html

As far as I can remember, it took about 1 month to receive my passport back. Immigration police was checking my papers for about 3 weeks. First, they check medicine and change its status in your cabinet on their web page, after that they check the rest. Sometimes immigration officers ask you to send additional papers like a proof of your working experience. But this is not very common.

I would really recommend to invest some money and send your papers by the most safe method. Finnish post is very good generally, nethertheless , my papers were lost twice!

Also, some countries do not allow to send passports by post (like Russia), make sure your country is okay with that. If not, you have to find a closest NZ embassy and send your passport through them.

      All the best,

      Lena

In any case, I would highly recommend to contact immigration police as soon as possible and ask about your specific paper just to be absolutely sure :)

  11. Hello Elena,
I must say you are Fantastic :-)
I want to ask one question here that, should we have our bachelor's degree verified from NZQA, before applying for SFJS Visa? Or we can do this assessment , once we are successful in reserving our places in silver fern quota?
And what is the procedure of Visa for my spouse, if i get my silver fern visa?

    Thanks,
    Maria.

    Replies
    1. Hi Maria,

      Ahaha, thank you :)

Hmm. The best would be to the assessment before, because NZQA is a bit unpredictable time wise. Well, I would probably send my papers for assessment the next day after application is submitted. It's a risk, but 3 months should be enough.

Regarding your partner, you can't bring anybody if you have a silver fern job search visa, but you can do it as soon as you sign a work contract. This is what all of our guys did. Depends on your field of work, can't take a week or a few months, of course.
As soon as you apply for residence together, your partner would be able to study here on the same conditions as locals.
But I'd recommend to check the immigration web page for those important issues.

      All the best to you,
      Elena

Thanks for sharing your experience and views on SF Visa. I have already submitted my EOI with 140 points but it is back in the pool with 110 points as my qualification did not match LTSSL of 3/4 columns with my work experience in Software Testing(IT). I have 10 years of experience in IT field. Now I am thinking of going for SF visa but I have one doubt, I have completed 35 years nov last year. Will I be eligible to apply for SF visa and the criteria for qualification in same work experience will also matter. I have scored ielts 6.5 and have done NZQA successfully. And if I get the SF visa how much chance is there to secure a job in IT.

  19. Hi Elena,

I have been reading your blog for the past few days and have found it quite useful. Please keep up the good work!

I am considering applying for the SFJS Visa this April and would like your help in clearing some of my doubts:-

    - IELTS: I have taken IELTS – Academic on the 14_May-2011 and it only holds good until the 14_May-2013. Since the application date is on the 29 April; do you recommend me to take another IELTS or would the current score-card be sufficient as it would still be valid on the day I submit my online application.

    - My undergraduate education was in Pharmacy (Bachelor of Pharmacy, Osmania University, India), unfortunately neither the Pharmacy program nor my college is listed in the ‘List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment’, however my post-graduate degree ‘MSc in Pharmaceutical Science and Medicinal Chemistry’ (studied at Loughborough University, UK) is listed. Do I need to get my undergrad degree assessed by NZQA? Or is not required, since my postgrad degree & University are listed.

    - I am currently working in a pharmaceutical company as an analytical research scientist/ analytical chemist and would be grateful if you can advice me on the ease of finding such jobs over there.
    - If I didn’t find a job related to my education over the 9 Month period and end up working in a totally different sector (say as a waiter in a restaurant) could I still extend it to a SF-Practical Experience Visa?

    - Is it easy to find a software developer job in dot-net programming (a friend of mine wants to know)

    - If in case my application doesn’t get shortlisted, will they reimburse my application fee?

    Kind regards,
    Preddy

    1. Hi Preddy,

Would like to help you for your questions.. Elena, Correct me if I'm wrong...

For your IELTS, Wait for the application submission status.. It's totally depend on your case officer. If you are asked to write then do it... You will get enough time to do that.

Coming to your degree, I guess you should go with your Masters since its listed in NZQA.

Next the employment - You should have started your job related search by this time. Try you Job search on Seek, trademe.com. (The same answer would be for your friend who is looking for .net jobs)
And, If you dont get long term and appropriate job offer with 9 months, you should leave NZ. But that's worst case. I know you will get that..!!!

Finally, If your application is rejected, the amount will NOT be reimbursed..

I hope I have cleared all your doubts. Do let us know if you still need more info..

      Good Luck
      Vijay

    2. Thank you Vijay! I agree 100% to what you have written.
Well, the only thing I would add, I heard it's a bit difficult to find a job in analytical chemistry here due to the lack of working places in this field. I'd recommend to make a research on Australia, we know people who found a good job in the field over there.
I'm not particularly familiar with pharmaceutical industry here yet, Vijay was correct, you can make a little research already now at seek and trademe web sites. It should more or less clear your doubts.
I'll ask friends who work in IT about dot-net programming and add here a bit later :)

Fantastic work. This is the best blog on silver fern

As suggested in the blog, I have filled my application and saved it so that I can access it when the quota opens. At the moment I cant go into the application to edit detail or check it and when I try to open it, it says in the status 'Complete pending submission'

What should I do in order to access it?

I am a bit worried if my application will open on the final day..

    1. Don't worry! Go to your homepage. To the left of your screen under "online services", click on the link "Silver Fern Job Search". This opens a new window. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and you will see an option to "edit" - so if you have any changes now - you can make them; or "submit" your application - so when the big day comes you can do this; or "delete" your application - something I am sure you do not want to do!
      Good luck!

      Farai

I also have a question: if someone is doing an udnergraduate degree and is due to be done in September of this year, do they qualify for a Silver Fern visa?

      Thanks,

      Farai

      Delete
    2. Thank you, Farai, for the explanation. It also happens sometimes that the application you saved until the big day can disappear for a day or two, basically, you just can't open it. But it comes back a few days after.

I'm afraid September would be too late since you have to submit your papers within 3 months after you apply which is in the end of April :(

Thanks for your reply. As per the requirement for SFN visa it says You must:

be aged between 20 and 35 years of age (inclusive)
    http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/silverfern/jobsearch.htm

According to the above statement I can apply for SFN Visa. Isn't so ? What do you have to say ?

  26. Hi Elena,
Thank you for providing such a valuable information on SFV,much appreciated.i have read your blog and following the same.I have completed almost all the formalities . i have taken the IELTS got the required score also,I have recently applied for the skill assesement with NZQA as my qualification and university name has recently been taken off from the expemtion list, while making payment via debit card for my qualification assesement the payment did not go through even though i had enough money in all my debit cards, however the payment went sucessfully via credit card. I am just little concerned for the big day whether to use debit card or a credit card,as every second counts and i don't want to take any chance SFV.
My last question is,when you go on the terms & Condition page do i need to click on box infornt of each statement every time i make an attempt to make payment is there any short cut for the payment.
I will look forward to your response.

    Thanking you in advance.

    1. Hello Alok,

Auch, that's bad to hear you had problems paying with your debit card. Hmmm, I personally didn't hear any experience like this with SF, but I can totally understand why you worry about it. If I were you, I'd find out a reason why the payment didn't work out last time and may be contact the bank. Just to be sure!

Answering your second question, yes, unfortunately, you have to tick every box. There will be a problem that once you will tick them all and click pay, the web site will go down, and you will have to repeat again until you get to the actual payment. I had to do it at least 20 times last year until it worked :(

      Best of luck to you!

      Elena

    2. Hello Alok, May i know whats the estimated time given by NZQA for your assesment, & hw much did you pay in INR.

      Delete
    3. Hi Sharath,
The NZQA has given me 35 working days for the normal assessment for the fast track it is 20 days, however it also depends how long does the educational institution or university takes to respond. I have applied for the normal assessment and i have paid 36000/-INR.

      Hope this helps

  28. Hi Elena,
I've been reading your blog for some time now and the info you provide are really helpful!
I've just one question, I am in US and my friend would apply for SFV and we are wondering if I could submit the application for her since she will have no internet connection (at another country) at the time when the quota opens. Is there a possibility that she will be assigned a visa office in the US, (and not in her present country)..because the submission came from US.
Does the payment page automatically detect your location?
Do you think this will be a problem?

    Thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, Only the address of the communication entered in the application would be considered. And Yes, the payment origination location will be captured. But that should not be a problem to submit the application or making payment unless you are not using the foreign credit/Debit cards..

    2. Hi there!

I see no problem in this situation. You put in your (your friend's) resident address, and that one makes them decide which brunch you are signed to. It doesn't matter if the card you will use for the payment is foreign or not as long as it works.

We had people last year who submitted applications for friends.

      Best of luck!

Your Blog was absolutely informative fpr the ppl who aspire for getting the silver fern....Thanks..

    i have 3 questions .

1.What is the actual fee for silver fern on submitting the online application ?

2.Is it mandatory to take IELTS becoz i have my qualification that was taught entirely in English and how do i know that the proof of English Knowledge which i have will be acceptable ?

3.What are the documents to be sent to NZQA for the assessment ?

4.When should i get my docs verified from NZQA, before applying for SFJS Visa? Or we can do this assessment , once we are successful in reserving our places in silver fern quota?

    1. Hi,

      Thank you!

      1. It was 135 NZD last year. I can't find the fee for this year. Anybody's seen if it's the same?
      2. Probably you do not need IELTS, to confirm and to answer "how do i know", you might want to read this one: http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/Englishlanguagerequirements.ht
      3. I didn't have to asses my diploma, so I can't really help on this topic. I recommend to check from their web page.
      4. NZQA takes time and they don't really tell you when it will be ready exactly. If you send your papers just after you got the place online, you take a small risk. But then you have 3 months to send all final papers to your brunch. The risk is up to you ;)

I had bunch of queries concerning SFV but could not find any suitale site or place but your blog really helped me out. I really appreciate your efforts and wish you best of luck for successful life in NZ. :)

My query is about mode of payment. I am not clear whether to use debit card or credit card as we will be short of time (every second count !) on 29th April.
a)credit card or debit card ?
    b) I have my own debit card and asked friend for his credit card. Would it be possible to use friends credit card for payment?

    2. I haven't experience of using credit card/debit card online for shopping and all. Please explain what things will system ask while making payment via card. Pl share complete process of using credit/debit card for SFV payment.

Thanks for sharing such precious information with us.

I would request to answer my following queries.

1)I am working in software company in India for more than 3 years . for getting experince certificate , I will have to take approval of my manager . I dont have good relations with him also , if i will ask him to issue certificate then that will effect my Appraisal this year . Is Exp mandatory at the time of applying ? or we can submit it lator.? Means i can ask my manager about that certificate after i get positive response while filling my application and fees , other wise its a big risk .

2)I have Done MCA in 2009 from India . My college is not listed in NZQA list . do i need to have assesment prior to applying for Silver fern ? Or it can be done when i will submit the fees and Get mail from NZ immi to submit documents ?

    3) Which documents are required to register for ths Visa?

Eagerly waiting for you reply ..

    1. Hi Elena,

Thanks so much for helping so many people with your great blog!!!

As it seems to be very difficult to be amoung the 300 lucky ones :-/, I'm thinking about to apply also for a second type of visa (working holiday visa) in parallel.
I'm from Austria and the working holiday visa scheme opens on 18th April (100 places). If I am able to get a place on the working holiday scheme am I also allowed to apply for a second visa (Silver fern) or am I blocked if I do already hold a submitted visa?
I would of cause prefer to get the silver fern visa but the working holiday visa would be better than nothing (although its only valid for 6 month).

Thanks a lot for your help!

      Best regards
      Ella

    2. Hi Ella,

Let me try answering you. After your message I have gone through about working holiday visas... since there will be huge competition Siver Fern, it would be better to apply for working holiday for safer side, of course you will alwaya have option to apply SF again if you don't get working holiday in worst case (I wish you could get). I feel 6 months period would be enough time to gain a job there. All the best.

  36. Hi Elena!

Thx for your great work concerning this blog page.

I have a similiar question as Ella.

I am thing of applying for two visas. first i want to apply for the working holiday visa and secondly for the silver fern visa.
But what do I do if I for instance get a working holiday visa and afterwards want to change it to a silver fern visa. I mean the application period for a working holiday visa is about 7 days before the application for a silver fern one. As we know becoming a silver fern visa is harder but if you get it, its better than the working holiday one.
So. Am i kind of blocked to apply for silver fern visa if I already have the approval of a working holiday visa? or can I apply for both visas and also receive both of them?

I would be so happy if you could help me on that.

    Greets Ricky!

  46. Hello Elena,

Can't thank you enough for all the information I got from your blog and the comments for which you replied. Still I have just 2 questions.

    1. I did my under graduate as well as post graduate degrees entirely in English. All the people from my country no matter if they studied the same as like me go for an IELTS test. Do I need to do the same or can I submit something else. If so, what all are accepted? Like a letter from the Post graduation college alone, or from both the colleges or would something else suffice. This would save me a lot of time during the 3 months, in case I get the application accepted.

    2. My UG and PG degrees are there on the list of qualifications, but not on the list of Institutions exempted from NZQA, which means I guess is that it needs to be sent for assesment. If so would Pre-qualification assesment suffice? or do I need the International Qualifcation Assesment which costs over 5-6 times the visa itself? Would I get it within 2 months so that I can send it before 3 months?

Please do answer, thanks a ton.
God bless You for all the help!

  55. Hello,

Thanks for the useful information on this blog, however I am having a total nightmare trying to access the website and application form. My boyfriend and I are hoping to get the visa however I have somehow managed to fill out an application form after much random clicking of buttons on the website. However when I now log in to the website to view 'My Application' I just get error messages!!! Then, very occasionally, my application appears so I click on it and I again either get an error message or am unable to do anything with it, I didn't press submit but pressed save for later use and now I can't amend it.

Also everytime my boyfried tries to access the website he gets an error message saying access denied or that the quota for Silver Fern visa's are full.

To say the website is frustrating is an understatement and it's basically already ruling us out of being able to get a visa if we can't fill in our forms first - there's no way you can fill in the forms details and pay in less than 8 minutes!!!

I called the NZ Immigration directly, cost a fortune as was on hold for 25 minutes, then the guy who answered said he didn't really know about the visa, that he thought it might be opening on the 30th April and that he didn't know what information they would ask for on the form but he suspected I would need my Birth Certificate and it's number!? That phone call cost me a lot of money and I was the one who knew more than them - I had to correct him on the date they open etc.

Anyway sorry for the moan but I really want a fair chance at this application so if anyone could send the link or explain where we need to click to get the form open I'd really appreciate it.

Is anyone else having problems pre filling in the form?
Anyone managing to fill in the form and then go back and edit it?
Anyone spoken with an immigration officer who is helpful?

    Many thanks
    Georgina

    1. Hello,

I think everyone is having problems with the website. I have already pre filled the application form and now i can't view it . It must be a problem with the system.

anyway all the questions they would ask for on the form are very simple, but it is a long form.
      1. personal details: name , date of birth, address....
      2. passport details.
      3. another ID card details or drive license.
      4. if you got a NZQA assessment report.
      5. language requirements.
      6. If you have enough money.
      7. yes or no questions about your health.

  60. Ciao guyz!

    This is Luca, from Italy

about the fee, you can use the fee calculator here

    http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/LinkAdministration/ToolboxLinks/AllToolboxLinks.htm?level=1

it seems it depends what country you come from... concerning me, it says 135 GBP, that is much higher than 135 NZD...

and i'm also worried cause it says "only credit cards" while our beautiful blogger suggests debit cards.. i guess we'll find out only by living it

ps: same problem as all..cannot access to to the SF page..

    good luck to everybody!!!

    Luca

    Hello ********** **************,

Welcome to the online application system for the Silver Fern Job Search visa.

Unfortunately at this time we are not accepting new applications for the Silver Fern Job Search visa.

There is a limited quota of Silver Fern Job Search visas each year. The quota for this year has already been filled.
